Our Tuffkid inset day was a particularly special one. We had the honour of visiting the home of Professor Tina Bruce, educationalist for early years, in Richmond. Tina Bruce has written and edited 28 books on early years education and is a Froebelian educator who focusses on the holistic approach of the child. In addition to Professor Bruce, we were able to meet seven Froebelian tutors who travelled from near and far to join us for the day. The experience was enlightening and full of deep meaningful conversation exploring the different levels of play ranging from literal to emerging, to imaginative.

We looked at the latest research on play which has yet to be published and has completely changed our outlook on the way play is interpreted. Understanding the way our children play and being able to see how they approach resources, can help us connect with them and support/scaffold their learning in a meaningful way. Our planning becomes richer when we prepare appropriate resources for where each child is at. We are looking forward to applying our new insight in ways which will enhance your children’s learning in the nursery. In Tuffkid we are always up to date with current studies/theories in early years education so that we can offer your children optimal opportunities for growth and development.
